News and Notes
South Carolina and Arkansas to be Night Games
Both the South Carolina (September 12) and Arkansas (September 19) football games will be televised at night, according to the UGA Sports Communications department. ESPN or ESPN2 will televise the matchups. The Georgia vs South Carolina game will begin at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Georgia vs. Arkansas game is slated for a 7:45 p.m. ET start.

Time Set for Season Opener
The September 5 season opener for the Dawgs will be televised at 3:30 p.m (Eastern) by ABC. Georgia will face Oklahoma State in Stillwater. The Bulldogs boast a 3-0-0 record against the Cowboys, with the most recent win being a 35-14 victory in Athens in 2007.

Anniversaries for UGA's Heisman Winners
This year marks the 65th and 25th anniversaries for the University of Georgia's two Heisman Trophy winners. UGA's Frank Sinkwich was honored as college football's best player in 1942, and Herschel Walker earned the coveted trophy in 1982. Let's take a look at these two outstanding Bulldogs.

Outlook for the 2009 Season
UGA Sports Communications department has released its 2009 Georgia Football Outlook on georgiadogs.com. According to the report, "Coach Mark Richt has made it clear that he and his staff are hungry for a championship just like the fans. And Richt, who is starting his ninth season in Athens, said he is going to have a renewed emphasis on attention to detail and accountability." Visit Website > Knowshon Now a Bronco
Knowshon Moreno was taken as the Denver Broncos' first round pick, 12th overall in today's NFL draft. The University of Georgia running back rushed for 1,400 yards in 2008 and 1,334 in 2007.

Old Georgia mascot to get monument in Eastman
The Macon Telegraph reports that Mr. Angel, the bulldog mascot who roamed the University of Georgia's sidelines from 1944-46, will be honored today with the unveiling of a monument in Eastman, Georgia. Loran Smith will be the keynote speaker.

Around 6 p.m. today, news broke that Larry Munson, the legendary radio voice of the Georgia Bulldogs, is entering retirement after 43 seasons. Munson started as the Dawgs broadcaster in 1966. Born Sept. 28, 1922, he will be celebrating his 86th birthday this coming weekend. You are the greatest, Larry, and we'll miss you. May you have many wonderful years hunkering down in retirement!

No Shock: Moreno an Early Favorite for Heisman
Bloggers at USAToday.com have included UGA's Knowshon Moreno on their list of the top 5 "Non-QB Heisman Favorites." My only comment: who are the other four and why do they even think they belong in the same class as Knowshon!?!
